He's been texting me goodmorning every day since we've had sex.. does he like me?

almost everyday hes been texting me goodmorning. it seems kind of awkward like we have nothing to talk about when texting. when he sends me one word responses, i dont reply, a few hours later, he texts me again. how can i make our texting more fun? and if we're just friends who are seeing each other casually, how can i get closer to him? im completely clueless. i dont know what to think... we've been friends for awhile. does this mean he likes me a lot or is he doing it to be a gentleman? he never calls me, though we've talked on the phone before a few times, when we were just friends. we seem completely different from eachother, and i'm having a hard time finding that middle ground. it was much easier before we crossed the friendship line.
